We have taken the liberty of plotting the positions of John Anderson's samples from his Northern Ireland study. These samples are tagged and acknowledged as his.
This dataset includes 54 relatively small, shallow lakes from Northern Ireland and the Republic.
All sites are lowland, alkaline and cover a wide range of phosphorus concentrations. Surface sediment samples were collected during April 1990 and May 1991 and diatoms were counted by John Anderson. We are fortunate to have retained the links for most Northern Ireland samples back to the European Diatom database which greatly adds to their utility. The Northern Ireland database marker locations on our map may not be accurate as some of the sample coordinates give positions on land and so we have relocated them to the closest likely body of water.
Species lists not authored by ourselves have not been corrected for current taxonomy.
